Welcome to West Taunton District Girlguiding

Every week over 100 girls enjoy meeting their guiding friends for fun and friendship.

We are for all girls

We give girls their own space

We give girls a voice

We change as the lives of girls change

Our members enjoy many adventures and challenges.

2012 has been another fun packed year for Taunton West District. Visits this year have included Noahs Ark Farm, Bristol Zoo, The 2012 London Olympics, The Region Thinking Day event 'All the Worlds a Stage' in Bristol, Bowling, Ice Skating, The Gang Show, Willows and Wetlands and, of course, Huish Woods.  Residentials have included Bishops Lydeard Scout Hut and the PGL centre, Beam House, in North Devon.  Two units also saw the Olympic Torch Relay event at the cricket ground in May 2012.  The County Carol Service in Taunton was well attended by the district.  2012 ended with a District Circus Workshop which included an hour of circus skills like plate spinning, juggling, unicycling and much more and an hour of circus crafts including face painting, making juggling balls, clown hats and much more.

All girls aged between 5 and 11 are welcome to come and join one of our units, please follow the instructions on the contact form page on this website using the National Join Us system to register your interest.  If your daughter is over 11 and would like to join Guides or Senior Section please also use the system on nthe contact form page as it will take you to the nearest unit.

If you were a Rainbow, Brownie or a Guide and have very fond memories of your time in the movement then why not consider volunteering to help with a unit or with admin?  And if you were never a member yourself but would like to enable girls in Taunton West to take part in many different activities then please contact us through the instructions on the contact form page of this website.  All adults will need to have an enhanced CRB check and a chat with Ali Cottey, our district commissioner.  You would have the opportunity to go into uniform and take the adult leadership qualification if you would like to build up your CPD portfolio.  Whether you go into uniform or not you will be made very welcome at any of our units, and research has shown that volunteering is good for your health!

Girls just want to have fun!
